If you like wandering around town (and we encourage you to do so, to really 'feel' Phnom Penh), the Royal Palace (with the Silver Pagoda) and the National Museum are only a five to ten minute walk from Nordic House. Also the birthplace of Cambodia's capital, Wat Phnom, is in easy walking distance. As we have good contact with the moto and tuktuk drivers in our street, we can always arrange your trip to sights in Phnom Penh, whether nearby or a little further away.
The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields just outside Phnom Penh depict the darker past of the country. Those are not 'pleasant' sights, but a must if you want to understand Cambodia better. After a visit to these remnants of a dark history, you'll be even more surprised by the genuine friendliness of Cambodians, who always have a smile ready. To us, that's the greatest attraction of the country: the Cambodians. Take time to get to know them!
